Parents as Teachers is a nationwide evidence based home visiting program that supports the optimal development of young children by facilitating personal visits centered around positive parenting practices and early childhood development. Children receive regular health and developmental screenings and families are connected to the resources needed to thrive. Parents as Teachers services are available in both English and Spanish, and both Jefferson and Clallam Counties. Parents as Teachers is funded by: The Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) and Clallam County.

In 2023, First Step Family Support Center Parents as Teachers program completed the Parents as Teachers Quality Endorsement and Improvement Process and earned the highest designation: Blue Ribbon Affiliate status. Being named a Blue Ribbon Affiliate affirms that First Step Family Support Center Parents as Teachers program is among the highest quality members of the home visitation and parent education field, implementing the evidence-based Parents as Teachers model with fidelity and quality.
